No news and some thoughts

In this case, no news is good news.
My heart still skips a beat when Lily does a repetitive motion and doesn't respond when I call her name..but she hasn't had another seizure and it's been almost 2 weeks since the last one.

We are just going on with life (for now) and doing what we do best..having fun.

Allergies have hit us all hard. Leia is even getting the watery eyes. It could be the overgrowth of weeds in our yard due to last summer's drought. It killed most of our grass but oddly, not the weeds.
Leia is sitting up now meaning she doesn't understand why she can't sit up and sleep at the same time :) 3 times I found her sitting up in her crib last night...makes for a long night.

Well, since this post is rather here and there and everywhere, I'll add this, too. I found myself pulling "a dad" this morning. On the way home from taking Kota to school, I saw an animal on the side of the road that had been run over. My 1st thought was "Disobedient puppy". Why? you ask. My dad used everything as a learning experience. And most times, it was roadkill. "That little animal didn't listen to his mommy and daddy and look what happened." Now before you jump on the cruel dad bandwagon, my dad wasn't cruel. He was just teaching us. Notice it's something that stuck in my brain all these years :)
Everybody parents differently and for that, I love you, Dad.

Another test...GREAT results

Lily...waiting to have her MRI

Lily...after her MRI

Lily had another test done. It was an MRI.

We were up super early to be at the hospital for it. And of course, Lily wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything after midnight.

We arrived at 6:15am, checked in. And then headed to our holding room. Lily got to watch cartoons while we waited. At 7:30am, they gave her the silly medicine. (this stuff makes her so smiley and silly) And at 7:48am, they started the MRI.
She did fantastic. No problems with waking her up...but the meds had her trying to catch whatever she thought she saw flying around her head. :)

We got the results back later that day. And GREAT results at that. The MRI showed everything was completely normal. It was a perfect MRI. They could still see the sinus infection she is currently being treated for (hoping this round of antibiotics will get rid of it).

The pediatrician still wants to send off this test and the EEG off to a pediatric neurologist. Get their eyes to look it all over and see what they think. I'm hoping we won't have to head back to Dallas for a visit to these Dr's. It would be great and they could give us answers just by looking at the test results.
So, until then....we have some peace of mind.

EEG results

can I just say, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Lily's EEG came back with a probability of having another EEG in a few weeks. There is something that showed up on it from the left mid frontal region that the Dr didn't like (this is the Dr who reads the test). And as Lily was falling asleep during the test, there was some unusual activity. The pedi didn't understand the neurologist's jargon as to why he thought the activity was unusual. But she wants me to call 911 if another seizure happens since they can administer anti seizure meds faster than my driving Lily back to the ER. :/

The pedi wants an MRI done..Lily will have to be sedated for this. And then she wants to refer us to a seizure clinic in Dallas.

..........

The MRI is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 6:15 am. I am hoping this is the last test for awhile..and praying we get some answers.

Way Back When-esday: echos

Today, we headed to Dallas in the downpour for a visit to Lily's cardiologist. If you've followed my blog for some time, then you know of Lily's congenital heart defect. If not, you can read about it in the February-April 2008 archives. Long story, short--> Lily was born with a hole in her heart and it required open heart surgery to repair it.
As of August 2009, Lily was considered heart healthy. A little over a year after her VSD repair.

We were sent to see the cardiologist this time because Lily received an abnormal EKG when we were in the ER this weekend after her seizure. Come to find out, it's normal for Miss Lily to have an abnormal EKG. It's common to have this right blunder blockage after having a VSD repair. This is great news because we were concerned when the pediatrician set up our appointment ASAP.
All is good with Miss Lilyann for now. No new episodes. We are still waiting on the results from the EEG (brain scan). Once we get those, then we should know what was the cause for her seizure this past Friday.

a small update

Can I just say, Whew!
I feel like I've been running a mile a minute since I left to go to the dr's office.
Results still are not in from the EEG (brain scan). But Lily's CT scan from the hospital showed that she had a SEVERE sinus infection. So much mucous and in the deep pockets of her sinuses. She also have an ear infection. These 2 factors could have cause Lily to have a febrile seizure (kinda what I am hoping). But the dr is NOT happy with Lily's EKG that the hospital did. It shows some kind of blockage and she wants Lily to be seen by her cardiologist in Dallas ASAP. :/
So, we are off to Dallas tomorrow with Lily. Hopefully, we will get all good news from the cardiologist and from the brain scan (whenever those results are ready).

Pray for Lily

It's been a crazy last 36 hours.

Friday was good...kids played well together. We even all ventured out to Target to pick up a kiddie pool for these warm afternoons we've been having. After all the outside fun, the big kids came in for lunch and a rest. All was good. Leia was down for a nap, Lily had just fallen asleep on the couch, Kota was watching cartoons, and I was finishing folding the laundry. Then I see Lily doing this repetitive movement. I go over to see what's happening. She is half covered with her blanket. I call her name...nothing. She is pale, her eyes are rolling back, she is making this weird noise in her throat, and she is just twitching with arms flailing. I'm holding her still and talking to her while asking Kota to get me the phone. We call Grandma (she works at a hospital) and she advises me to bring her to the ER. Lily's seizure has stopped and she is just laying there. Dakota helped out by talking to Lily and watching her. I get Leia in her carseat, grab Lily and the bag, and get Kota in the van.
We get to the ER, they are waiting. Tests are run. Lily is not happy. She is finally coming out of all this and absolutely terrified.

The dr's confirmed it was a seizure but all her tests came back fine.
We had an EEG today and we should get the results back on Monday.
Please pray for our Lily. I don't know the reason for what is happening but I know that God is in control.
I've had this scene play through my mind for the last day. I figured I'd sit down and get it all out.
I'm completely terrified. I'm worried with any sudden move that Lily makes. This is something I'd never wish on anyone.

Spring Break

It's Spring Break here at our house.
And this momma is definitely not used to having 3 children underfoot (now, don't take that as a bad term...but they all seem to be craving my attention ALL at once). I'm definitely ready for school to be in session next week, but I do enjoy having Dakota home. He is such a good helper with Leia..and of course, Leia adores Dakota.

This week has been a great week for weather, too. Given it's been a bit humid, but still gorgeous weather. So, we've been to the park :)

It's been a crazy busy week but thanks to clothes needed to be dried, I had a few moments to update the blog.
And this will be all for now, I'm dealing with a glorious migraine. :/ I know the culprit this time...parmesan cheese. Remind me next time...not even one bite.

Until I have a few moments ago...

EnJoy!

Way Back When-esday: The circle of life (tooth episode)

This was last year (April 2011) when Dakota lost his 1st tooth. He was so excited but fearful of losing his 1st tooth.

And just this past Friday, he lost tooth number #7 (I think, I'm beginning to lose count). Silly tooth fairy forgot to put money under his pillow, so we woke up to a crying Dakota. :( But that silly (and sneaky) tooth fairy ended up putting the money under Dakota's quilt...I guess since it was a cool night, the tooth fairy thought Kota would sleep under his covers, but he slept on top. Big SAVE for the tooth fairy...she is back in Dakota's good graces....whew! that was a close one.

And since we are talking about teeth, Miss Leia cut tooth #2!!
I am hoping for some relief and good sleep that I hear all the other mommas talk about. I keep telling myself that one day it will happen...one day.

Thinking back since it's Wednesday.

Makes My Monday: take your pick

I have a few Monday makers...
1st, Leia is 5 months old. She is becoming more animated. Talking more, sleeping still comes and goes (but I think momma is becoming immune to the lack of sleep), and a belly laugh from Miss Leia is in the near future.

2nd, Spring is this month. Though some days, I'm convinced it's already here. Yesterday (and Today) are beautiful. We grilled out, blew bubbles, and relaxed in the hammock! :) Perfect weekend ♥ And we have some yumminess leftover from yesterday's grilling...meaning Mommy doesn't have to think to much about what to make for dinner. And that, I LOVE!

and 3rd, Warranties are a definite Monday maker. This isn't our vehicle. It's a rental and covered under warranty. Our van is in the shop getting the AC fixed, and some other things replaced. We were excited to find out it was all covered under warranty. This way, our van will be vacation ready when June comes along :)

Sleepy Baby

she's turned into a tummy sleeper and all on her own.
